Chronicle Books and the experts at Tacori are giving away this little gem and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be kicking off its blog tour this week. Memorable moments, thoughts, and feelings from the wedding day…

Having never been married, the weddings I attend allow me not only great material for Delightfully Engaged, but also give me insight into what would be important for my own event. After many stints as a wedding guest, here are a few things that I have learned are absolute wedding must-haves:

1. Comfortable shoes and a pre-ceremony snack. I once went to a wedding where the bride fainted three times during the ceremony. That’s right. Three. Times. As understandable as it is to get caught up in the moment, you gotta take care of the practical. You are going to be in your wedding shoes for quite some time. Make sure they are comfortable and will not tempt you to lock your knees. And for heaven’s sake, eat a sandwich before marching down that aisle!

2. Your very best friends surrounding you. Unfortunately when two of my college friends decided to get married, the bride’s family didn’t approve. When the wedding day rolled around, we were all dreading Karen walking down the aisle alone. To our surprise, just as the wedding march began, the groomsmen (of which there were 12) lined the aisle. As Karen tearfully passed each of them, they whispered in her ear a reason that they were grateful that she was marrying Joe. Now, hopefully no one else’s wedding will be this bittersweet, but this goes to show you that a group of the besties can save the day and are the most important guests.

3. An amazing soundtrack (in all fairness, I have also learned this from Cameron Crowe). Ceremonies are not often the most fun part of going to a wedding. Chances are you are sitting in between Aunt Mildred, who has thoroughly doused herself in Shalimar, and The Crier (every wedding has that one guest who sobs the whole way through). Shake it up by incorporating music that is fun, unexpected, or sweetly nostalgic. My friend Lydia’s processional music was the theme from “Anne of Green Gables.” I hadn’t heard it since I was in junior high, and it made me all mushy over the fact she was getting to marry her very own “Gilbert Blythe.”
We are giving away one copy of “The Story of Us” so that you can journal your thoughts during this very important phase in your relationship. The questions range from romantic to silly and are a great way to chronicle your early years together. To enter to win, leave a comment on this post with your own favorite memory from someone else’s wedding.
